TOC tab leader formatting disappears

My TOC has tab leaders so that the page numbers align right. This format goes
away after I save and close my document. The headings and page numbers are
still correct but the tab leaders are gone . Does anyone know how to fix this?

Try setting the tab stops directly in the TOC styles. You do this via
the Modify Style dialog box; see
