Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: imap Just switched from PC to Mac so bear with me. I use several email accounts both pop (work) and imap (gmail). On my PC / Outlook 2007 I had all default folders and my own added folders for sorting and filing away read messages. In entourage the work account's emails download by default to the "on my computer" inbox but Gmail has its own set of folders up top. I would like all Gmail folders to disappear and for any emails sent to my gmail account to just go to the "on my computer" inbox. I tried applying a rule using "any addressed to me" filter but for some reason this had no affect on the gmail folder...

any help much appreciated, thanks

I use several email accounts both pop (work) and imap (gmail). On my PC
/ Outlook 2007 I had all default folders and my own added folders for
sorting and filing away read messages. In entourage the work account's
emails download by default to the "on my computer" inbox but Gmail has
its own set of folders up top.

Let's start with some basics. Entourage 2008 will use the default folder
at the top of the folder list where prior to 08, folders "On My
Computer" was always on top.
I would like all Gmail folders to
disappear and for any emails sent to my gmail account to just go to the
"on my computer" inbox. I tried applying a rule using "any addressed to
me" filter but for some reason this had no affect on the gmail folder...

When you created the rule, was it under the IMAP tab in Rules?

Have you considered changing Gmail to POP? This might be easier with the
way you are using it.
also I want all sent emails through gmail to end up in my sent items
folder "on my computer".

Open your IMAP Account under Tools in the Menu bar. Select the Advanced
tab and make your settings to store messages.
I want one inbox and one sent items folder since this makes looking for
things easier. Colleagues, friends, family they all use all of my
emails...

If you want to view all of your mail from several accounts in one Inbox,
you can create a new Custom View that will show you all your inboxes in
one view. See directions:

also I want all sent emails through gmail to end up in my sent items
folder "on my computer".

I want one inbox and one sent items folder since this makes looking for
things easier. Colleagues, friends, family they all use all of my emails...

Log in to your Gmail account using a web browser and configure your
account for POP access instead of IMAP.

Connect to your Gmail account as a POP account and everything should
download into your Inbox under "On My Computer". All your sent messages
will go into the Sent Items folder under "On My Computer".

Hope this helps!
