Are you using custom number formats and/or styles? Try eliminating the ones
you know you're not using (Format-->Cells-->Number Tab-->Custom Category).
In addition, copying and pasting between workbooks copies styles and the
list can get very large. Use the Format-->Style command and delete the ones
you're not using.
Even if you're using all of them, you may have the same style more than one
time (but with different names). For example, if I copy a worksheet from one
workbook to another workbook and the styles being used have the same name
but different formats, Excel copies in the styles but adds the name of the
workbook to the end of the style name.
Ex: Copy Sheet 1 from a workbook called Test.xls to workbook
Destination.xls. The Normal style from Test.xls appears in Destination.xls
as Normal_Test.

some of the formatting. it counts them as new formats and I hit the wall
