Too many merhant account options for newbie

I should be doing 1-10k a month in sales online at $10-$20 buck a pop selling presentation materials. I need a direct merchant account (not PayPal). it seems like Verisign and BB? are the two I see the most. Can someone give me a suggestion on what is a good (or bad) choice?

Thanks

2co.com is nice. it integrates nicely with shopping carts and other
scripts/ carts that reside on your site. I've hooked it up with a couple of
carts and it's nice. it's a step up from paypal in "obviousness" but not
that much worse than getting your own merchant account. I've got a regular
merchant account and it works but there's more "paperwork" etc. with that,
plus you'll NEED at least an SSL certificate if you process your own
payments "offline".

And PayPal no longer requires buyers to sign up first.

How come you don't like Paypal...it's real easy to use. Just curious.

there is a certain satisfaction and "image" of having a regular merchant
account. I guess people believe you're "legit", rather than someone who was
only able to open a paypal account. perhaps the new paypal thing that skips
sign-up will put it on par with 2co.com but that's a pretty nice system. a
little less "hokey" IMHO.

I like paypal, especially if you just incorp their buttons onto your own
site...it's painless and they take care of all the credik kard stuff...and
it ends up being very inexpensive...no hassle way of taking cards. Actually
it works out cheaper than when I had my own merchant accounts.

My philosopy...let someone else deal with the headaches KISR (keep it simple
robo)

:)

Chris hit it. There is a certain feeling of being "legit" if you have a regular merchant account (for those that haven't spent as much time online as us...which is 1/2 my clientele). I personally love and use PayPal all the time. But, I need that non-PayPal option. I will look at 2co.com. So does everyone stay away from the Verisign's of the world?

For regular Merchant Accounts, my clients use Cardservices international's LinkPoint.

there's lots of stuff about verisign that lots of people don't like. I'm
not a social-political animal so I just hate them because of their high
prices. ;-) for instance their ssl is like $300, I've got them to sell to
my clients starting at $60. there is no reason for this to be, I mean, who
the hell am I compared to an organization like verisign?
