toolbar button to travel with document

Is there some way to create a macro in a template and attach it to the
standard toolbar, then email it to another person and have the button locate
it self on their standard toolbar automatically? I have been able to get the
macro to travel with the template and I have been able to get the toolbar
with the button to travel with the template BUT I have not been able to have
the macro button locate on the standard toolbar.

Does this mean that when i create a button in a template i need to create a
new toolbar for it to travel on - in other words doesn't the standard toolbar
travel with the document?

Hi Yve,

The built in toolbars do not travel with the documents or templates. With Word but the macros can, however, the users settings may
not allow enabling of your macro, in which case the button would also not appear.

What you want to do should work. Here are the steps I use when I
modify the toolbars for a template:

- Start Word using the /a switch: Go to Start/Run and run: Winword /a
(note the space before the forward slash)

This starts Word in a troubleshooting mode which prevents your
customizations from loading when Word starts. While this step isn't
necessary, I've found starting with a "clean slate" produces the best
results.

- Open your template
- In Tools/Customize on the Commands tab change the "Save In" list to
reflect your template.
- The on the Toolbars tab reset the Standard toolbar

Since you've made customizations to the toolbar previously, again,
it's best to start with a clean slate

- Add your macro stored in the template to the toolbar and make any
other modifications

If your macro isn't available then chances are it's stored in your
Normal.dot or another template which explains why you've had difficult
accomplishing this task.
