Toolbar Customizing

Helpingmyself

I've been upgraded to Word 2003, and my toolbar button changes will not save
when I exit Word, Excel, or Powerpoint. I am adding the "close" button and
"email attachment" button and deleting a few others--nothing very difficult.
My IT department cannot find a solution, and I'm hoping someone out there can!

Thanks!

Do you have the Adobe addin? It seems to interfere. If so disable it's
loading, make changes, and then re-enable.

Is Adobe Acrobat 7.0 installed on the computer? If yes, then the
Acrobat 7.0 Create Adobe PDF toolbar add-in for Word prevents
Word from automatically saving changes to the normal.dot template
(which is where toolbar customizations are stored). See
http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/331259.html for several
solutions to the problem.

Older versions of Acrobat do not cause this problem. Acrobat 7.0
causes this problem in Word, but not in Excel or Powerpoint as
far as I know.

Since you're likely using Adobe 7 it's difficult to disable and then
enable. You can either remove the add-in or force your Normal.dot to
save changes by holding Shift and clicking File/Save All. However this
only works for Word so you may need to uninstall the add-in.

Although I did hear they (Adobe) may have corrected this issue in an
update. You might try updating the update and see if they did indeed
correct the error. So far I haven't heard this confirmed so I'm not
certain the update will resolve the issue.

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email can not be acknowledged.

Thank you so much for all of your quick replies. I downloaded the 7.0.5
