Toolbar Missing In Excel

I have an iMac, Model iMac9,1.

I have the Office For Home and Student installed, Part Number is X14-93209-01, as well as the latest update installed: 12.2.1.

For several months it has been working wonderfully; doing everything I reasonably asked for it. I couldn't ask for more.

Then several days ago while moving an open spreadsheet I accidentally hit "The Jelly Bean of Death". But I was able to bring it back with little problem. No biggie, the Toolbar came back and I was able to continue working.

But a couple of days later the button was hit again. Only this time the Toolbar never came back. Everything I tried to bring the Toolbar back didn't work. I mean including deleting and reinstalling Excel and the latest upgrade. But I cannot get the Toolbar back.

I go to the other programs in Office and the toolbars come back without effort. I'm composing this on Word. Just after I typed that last sentence I Intentionally hit the button. It came back. But Never, and I do Mean NEVER - underlined, italicized and in bold – did the Toolbar for Excel ever come back.

There’s One Thing that I just noticed: In the “Other” programs, on the top Menu bar, the View Command is plainly visible, but not so in Excel. Don’t ask me if I remember seeing the View Command in Excel; I don’t. Is That the problem? Some sort of glitch that made the View Command disappear? If so, how do I fix it?

I use the Toolbar a Lot. I need it back. Re-hitting the button doesn’t work, left-button clicking does nothing; double clicking either mouse button minimizes the spreadsheet. So what should I do next?

I can't tell you why or how it happened, but the following may fix it:
Quit Excel
In the finder, open ~\Library\preferences\Microsoft\Office 2008 and
delete Excel Toolbars (12)
Empty the trash
Restart Excel

Report back here with the results.
