Toolbars hide where?

Apologies, I've not kept a note of when you told me before - where do XL
toolbars and their custom buttons hide?
Universal macros are in PERSONAL residing in Application
Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART\
No problem with Word - it's all in Normal - but I don't think they are in
PERSONAL since they sometimes disappear when the is no problem with
PERSONAL.

Customized toolbars are kept in a file with an extension of .xlb. It's location
an name varies with the version of excel and the version of windows you're
running.

For me (xl2003 and winXP Home), it's in:
C:\Documents and Settings\(usernamehere)\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel
And is named:
excel11.xlb


But lots of developers don't store the toolbar customizations in that
file--they'll customize the toolbar when their workbook/addin opens and clean up
when the workbook/addin closes.

For additions to the worksheet menu bar, I really like the way John Walkenbach
does it in his menumaker workbook:

My first attempt at John Walkenbach's method has failed - don't know what I
have done yet - will get to the bottom of it after more pressing things are
done. At present have set up minimum needed with a new toolbar. (John
Walkenback's method does not have toolbar buttons - I prefer drawn, rather
than word, buttons.) (The other URL would not open.)

I really should like to retain my old method of replacing the standard
toolbars with my own 'Topper' and 'Lefty' but I cannot find them anywhere,
try as I may. I just do not have the experience of Windows to find the .xlb
file you mentioned. I have tried making a change and then trying to find
files altered today but that did not help.

Please - any suggestions?

If you're looking for the location of *.xlb, rightclick on the windows start
button and click on search.
