toolbars not closing properly

Ocasionally when I'm closing toolbars in word xp
(especially the headers and footers toolbar) the toolbar
doesn't close properly and i'm left with a box (usually
grey) where the toolbar was. If I scroll up and down the
page the box stays where it is on the screen but the rest
of the document scrolls normally,any ideas?
