Tools menu...Option...startup folders

I changed the Options section of the Tools menu so that
the "alternate startup folder" was Documents and
Settings\Bill\My Documents. Now when I try to start
Excel, the program tries to bring up every file in the
folder automatically, none of which are Excel files.
With this going on and the continuous Error messages, I
cannot get to the Tools menu again to reset the problem.

Go to START button. Click it.
Select RUN
Type Excel.exe /automation
Now go into Options and amend.

Since you know the name of the folder you used, it might be simplest to just go
to explorer and move all those files out of that folder.

Then open excel and fix the alternate startup location.

Then back to explorer and move your files back.
