Tools-Options Error message

I am trying to use the Tools-Options menu, but when I try
to change any option I always get an error message: "The
number must be between 1 and 32767. Try again by entering
a number in this range." I have to hit "Cancel" to get
out of the menu. I tried reinstalling Excel but it didn't
fix the problem. Perhaps there is a patch out there for
this? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Alesha

I went to tools|options in xl2002 and looked for places you can enter numbers.

One spot was on the Calculation tab. Maximum iterations box. If I put 32768,
I'd get an error message, but not the one you got. I got "integer not valid".
(But maybe the message was changed in xl2002--you didn't give your version.)

You may want to check there and if it's not that to look through all the dialogs
for something that looks weird (negative numbers or numbers bigger than 32767).

And I kind of remember a post where the user had a similar problem. But it was
hiding under File|Page setup. As illogical as it sounds, you may want to look
there. Maybe something in the registry is causing excel to hiccup. (this is a
nutty guess--but I'd look there, just in case.)

Thank you for your reply. I tried to do the things you
suggested, but I couldn't even move around the menu
without getting the error. So, I tried reinstalling the
program again and it has been working. Hopefully that is
all I will need to do. Again, thanks for your reply.
