top & bottom margins gone!

i'm not new to word, been using it for over a decade and feel quite
knowledgable. until now!
all of a sudden any new word doc has no top or bottom margin, despite
having the margin set in the properties.
i've replaced normal.dot.
old documents are fine. side margins are not affected.
how can i get my top & bottom margins to show again!!

Might you be looking at your problem documents in "Normal" view rather than
"Print layout" view?

Either that or, maybe, have you let Karl Rove anywhere near your computer?

i'm familiar with the views, and i'm looking in print layout.
no one's roved near my computer ...

Hmmm.

Have you tried opening your problem document and then using Organizer to
close the styes available in Normal then

open one of the documents that are oldies but goodies and copying all the
styles from it to your problem document?

You may need to delete all the styles in the problem document (still in
Organizer) so that you positvely eliminate any pesky styles.

Does that do it?

ignore my last ignorant question, i found organizer .. thanks, i'll look
at your suggestion now!

if anyone needs to know, i made the margins come back, just now.
i went to tools, options, view and checked "text boundaries".

once i did that, it gave me another tool with which to alter the
margins, by click & dragging the dotted boundary line.
then for no apparent reason, the margin just reappeared! i've now
unchecked the show boundaries option, and the margins remain.

it's taken nearly three weeks but damn i didn't let ms get the better of me!
