total crash during slideshow

I have XP on a laptop and powerpoint is fine other than
everytime I run through a slideshow it crashes completely,
making powerpoint a bit useless
help?
Can i reinstall the whole thing?
Is it my hardware?

It's hard to say what the problem is w/o more info.

Does it crash this way on every presentation or just certain ones? Does it
crash on particular pages or as soon as you start the show?
