Dazed and Confused Again
I recently purchased a Toshiba P35 satellite lap top and included in the
pre-loaded software was Microsoft works 7.0 and the Office S&T Edition 2003
trail. One Note 2003 was also installed.
I have Offfice XP and I have purchase every Office product prior to that. I
am very impressed with the lay out and features that Office 2003 brings to
the table. I stay on top of all of the criticial updates and try to keep
every thing as up to date as possible. I have run into problems trying to at
least make sure that the security updates for the trail edition are current.
I completely agree with any company that trail editions should have limited
features and to be able to completely utilize the product, you must pay for
that upgrade. What I have a diffacult time understanding is why supply a
trail software package that opens your customers to potential threats?
As most of us general consumers have come to accept with any Microsoft
package is holes and vulnerablties that most be patched and maintained. With
a newer better product reaching the market every year we also continue to pay
for each new version. With each new version new explotations seem to
explode. One seems to wonder why with all of the talent and genius Microsoft
employs how those holes are not already addressed prior to the release of
your products.
If the every Microsoft customer knows that people will continue to try to
accomplish their agenda in any way possible. Why would Microsoft issue trail
versions that are impossible to repair and maintain at the most basic levels?
I have been and will remain a commited Microsoft customer. I feel your
products are a step above and are the benchmark for all to follow. I will
once again like the rest of your customers, bite the bullet and spend the
money to upgrade. I would have prefered to do that on my own time line and
not because I couldn't feel safe with a program that puts my family and
expensive hardware at risk.
