where can I find the training materials related to OWC Programming?

or

I should use Visual studio - VSTO instead?

There are 3 books on OWC programming if you care to purchase resources. Free
resources are available on the Office website in the form of a toolpack for
version 10. There are sites scattered on the web that have a moderate amount
of code as well. It just depends on how much material you need and your
budget.

Amazon: Professional Asp Programming Guide for Office Web Component: With
Office 2000 and Office Xp - Strategies for coding OWC in ASP pages in
javascript.

The Microsoft Office Web Components Black Book with .NET
www.lulu.com/owc, Amazon - detailed documentation and description of OWC
objects in C#/VB, scripts geared toward .NET

Amazon: Programming Microsoft Office 2000 Web Components (Microsoft
Programming Series) An historical perspective and overview of the OWC geared
toward ASP - not focussed on implementation but rather detailed on overall
strategies.

All these books have sufficient reviews on Amazon so that you can make an
informed choice depending on your usage.
