transfer e-mails from old computer to a new one

Anyone know an easy way to transfer loads of e-mails from
my old computer to my new one. I have 3 years of e-mails
that I need to keep for legal/business records.

I tried copying the e-mails in the "Identities" folder of
my old computer and pasting them into the same folder of
my new computer. They show up on the folder list but not
in my Outlook Express Inbox.

I also tried compacting, copying, and then importing the e-
mails into the new OE but it gives me an error message
that they are not the right kind of files.

Can anyone help!!!

Thanks, JMM

This is a group to support Outlook from the Office group of programs.
Outlook Express is a part of Internet Explorer and is a quite different
program despite its similar name..

You will probably get a faster and more expert answer if you post this to an
outlook express news group.

Try posting in one of these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress for OE 5.5x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress for OE 6.x

A good website for information on OE is:
