Transfer to new computer

I have seen other posts asking the same question, but I don't understand the
solutions. I tried to copy the files from My WEb folder on the old computer
and paste into a folder on the new computer. I published to update the site
and it seemed like it was going to work, expept when I try to post new files
(pictures) it says I lack permissions. What's missing?

How did you transfer?
See http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=264777
If you used a CD did you remove all read only attributes after copying to your new hard disc

I transfered by cut and paste - guess it wasn't that simple, based on your MS
support link and additional question regarding hidden files. As the easiest
solution (after I got your massage), I removed all hidden file attributes
from the files I haad pasted to the new system, and republished - same
problem when I tried to copy a file (lacks permissions). Now I'll try the
publish web method from the support link you sent, but my web is obviously
too large for a floppy. Am I missing something? Thanks.

In my previous reply I said "hidden file" attributes when I meant "read-only"
file attributes - sorry. If I copy to a CD will it not still have the same
read-only file issue when I am finished?

Why not just publish from your online site to your new PC in FP

Yes, but in Windows XP select the folder and right click for properties to remove the Read only attributes

I'm getting closer... When I got to the Publish step a destination dialog
box appeared with my site as the default. I accepted and it said to select
another destination - what's that about?

If you're using Windows XP Explorer, it will change the attribute back to
original state when you copy it to your HD.
