Transferring front/backend to new computer

Dave

I have been sent 2 zipped db files in Access 97 - a
backend as stored on users file server and a copy of the
frontend as stored on each users pc. I can open the
backend and examine data & tables etc. but when the
frontend is opened it tries to open the backend using the
pathname from the users system. So I cant even startup
the frontend. How can I redirect the path to run front &
back on my standalone pc? I'm also using Access 2000.

Dave,

Try holding down the shift key when you open the Front-End of the database;
this will bypass the code or macro which runs when the database opens. If
the database window is not visible when you open the database in this
manner, press F11. Then, you can use the Linked Table Manager to link to
the tables in the back-end of the database in the folder where you have
copied it.

Thanks Cheryl that did it - I had to convert the db to
2000 before it allowed me to write out the new pathname.
Thanks again I'm learning.
Dave.
