Transferring info between Excel sheets ??? I'm stumped......!!

how about putting the following formula in "July Orders" cell B5

=IF('July Orders'!C5='Customer Base'!C5,'Customer Base'!B5,"")

Hi folks...........

It's time for me to turn to you experts.........cos I'm lost on this
one.........

I have a need to transfer information from one excel sheet to
another.......sounds simple but only a select amount of information if the
preceding information meets a specific criteria.........that comes as no
surprise...........

At least I'm only looking at solving the challenge of transferring
information on the
second and third rows in each sheet.

From a sheet that we can call "July Orders" ...if the customer reference
number which is already in Column C cell# x matches the information in
Column C cell# x of excel sheet named "Customer Base"

then copy the Date information from "Customer Base " Column B Cell x to
vacant cell in "July Orders" Column B Cell x

Where "x" in each case is the individual cell ( for example C5 ) not a
combination of cells........

I know this is probably not a big challenge to those who frequently deal
with Excel...but I'm stumped...don't even know where to begin with this one.

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated...... :)
