Transition between linked horizontal and vertical slides

Is there a way to control the transition scheme between linked horizontal and
vertical slides? For example, I want all the slides to fade slowly in
transition from one to another on mouse click. I can do this readily between
slides in the same folder, but when I go to a linked slide in another folder,
the transition does not take effect. I end up with a choppy looking program
whenever I go from vertical to horizontal or vice versa.

Are you sure you NEED vertical slides? You can also insert the content
(photos?) on horizontal slides and cover the sides with black rectangles to
fake a vertical slide. If dealing with ONE presentation, your transitions
are smooth.
