Transition Buttons on slides

I recently downloaded a premade template slide and it came with what look
like buttons on the actual slide that say next, previous, home etc. When you
are viewing the show the little finger comes up when you move the arrow over
them but nothing happens when you click on them. If anyone could tell me how
to format the on slide buttons it would be greatly appreciated!

It depends on how they were created.

They could be hyperlinks to those slides, in which case the links may be
broken.

They could have action settings applied to them, in which case I would
expect them to work.

Or they might have a macro that runs when they are clicked, in which case I
would suspect your macro security is set too high for them to work, or the
code was removed.

Or they may have been placed there as suggestions for what to do, rather
than the actual set-up to do it.

It would help if you could post the link to where the pre-made slides were
downloaded from, so that we can see the same thing you are looking at.

Everything Bill says

The buttons are on the master slide

View > Master>slide master

and select the button

Slideshow>action setting

Change setting to hyperlink to next / previous slide

Make sure the buttons are not covered up on your slides

This is very weird. I'm not sure what is going on. I was able to get it
to work by going into the master view and setting the Action Settings for
the buttons to "Highlight on Click." Then the buttons worked fine. I
could even remove the "Highlight on Click," and they would still work.
