transparent colours in images

In every version of office ive ever used before 2007 you have been able to
select a colour in an image that will be set to transparent. This is one of
the more useful things office apps can do as it saves loads of time fiddling
with image programs.

I've looked in the help files but can find nothing.

Does 2007 still have this ability? If not, will old .ppt and .doc files that
are opened in office 2007 apps still display this feature correctly?
