Transparent lines in graphs

Hello everyone,
I think there is a bug in Powerpoint 2007, but I'll sure be glad if someone
proves me wrong... The thing is as follows: I have a line graph made in
Excel. This graph is then copied and pasted into a Powerpoint slide and some
formatting is done (change of colours and especially setting a one of the
lines in the graph to be semi-transparent). I should also add that all the
lines have round endings and joints.

Everything seems okay in the design/editing mode. However, when I switch to
the presentation mode, the line that is semi-transparent gets a bit less
transparent at the data points (because it is, I believe, drawn as a
piecewise linear curve and due to the round endings the beginning of a new
line segment overlays the ending of the previous one and thus I get the "less
transparency effect"). How come it is alright in the design mode and not in
the presentation mode?

Also, when I set a line to be filled with a gradient, in the design mode it
is fine (gradient is drawn throughout the entire line/curve). After switching
to the presentation mode, well, that is an entirely different story, because
then the gradients are applied to the individual line segments!

Is there some workaround at least for the transparency? What is the
difference between design and presentation rendering that is introduces such
annoying effects to the user? Or, am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for any help.

Best regards,
nvx
