Trial Version vs Retail

I have just received a CD for the free trial of Office 2003 Pro.

In Office97 a "removal tool" utility was available from Microsoft to
completely remove all references. I am hoping someting similar exists for
2003.

If I subsequently purchase a full version of 2003 (I am entitled to a student
discount) then will I be able to completely remove the trial version (with all
its time limitations) completely as with 97?

Can anyone confirm this please?

Does that mean that the normal Add/Remove Programs will work 100% for removing
Office2003?

I don't want to have to re-format and re-install XP again!!!

Well...not exactly <grin>. What Microsoft has said is that the Add/Remove
Programs removes the most of the Office information that they are
comfortable removing without messing up people's systems. They claim it's
very clean--which is why they didn't create a removal utilitiy--but I don't
know what all remains after that.

After that, there's a Windows Installer Cleanup utility that you can run
that will remove entries in the registry related to installation of Office,
but it won't remove other registry entries that Office created and didn't
uninstall.

I have not yet seen a comprehensive article or posting about manually
removing it, either, so if it's worth it to you, you might give Microsoft
Support a call. In most cases, whatever's left is not likely to cause any
problems with ongoing system operation.
