I have tried and tried to download trial versions of MS OFFICE but none of
the programs will install; I do not get an error message but the link does
not work....help!

Sorry you are having problems downloading the trial, I've seen this
intermittently too. Can you send me a link to the page you are attempting to
install from and I'll followup with the appropriate group for investigation.

Thanks,
John

Who are you. Why are you impersonating like a MS person. You are posting via the CDO interface and you have nothing to do with MS apart from using their software

Did not address this to you.(url) It was the OP. Still I stand by what I said. You would not be using the CDO interface and as a MS employee you would have a newsreader setup.

Thanks JoAnn and Peter for pointing that out. Gildee if you don't mind,
please send us the URL for your trial so we can investigate further.

Peter I see your point about CDO and will upgrade to a decent newsreader.
Also, free to call me at Microsoft tomorrow 425-882-8080, ask for Johnbes
building 16.

Thanks,
John

Thanks Peter for taking up for me; I have never had a MS person contact me
this way either but what is the harm in sending him the link?

Thanks Johnbes, now we are back on track; I was downloading the MS Office
Standard version BUT was having a problem downloading any other version also
( I tried all of them:)

I haven't had trouble this evening downloading the trials from
http://us1.trymicrosoftoffice.com/default.aspx, but I have run into this
issue in the past. The cause when I hit the problem a few weeks ago was a
busy server. It’s possible you're hitting a different front end server than
I am. You may have tried this already, but if not, clear your IE cache and
restart IE.

Gildee, do you ever get to the download page? The url looks something like
this...http://us20.trymicrosoftoffice.com/downloader.aspx?receipt_id=30418027&culture=en-US

This is not my specific area of responsibility, but I know a few contacts in
the trial group and will follow up in the morning to see if there was an
issue with the download service tonight. If you have continued difficulty
downloading the trial, I’ll certainly do whatever I can to get you a copy of
that trial as soon as possible. My apologies for the difficulty anyone is
having downloading the trial software, free to contact me directly at
[email protected] if the problems persists.

Thanks,
John

Hi, I haven't been able to uncover any server issues with the download
service yet, but I'm continuing to research. If anyone is still
experiencing issues downloading the trial please let me know.

Thanks,

John

... If anyone is still
experiencing issues downloading the trial please let me know.

Between Groove and the two parts of Office 2007 that I and a colleague
have wanted to download some time ago using DSL connections typically
allowing 1.5 Mb/sec download speeds, we've encountered actual download
speeds ranging from 160 KB/sec (ideal!) all the way down to 6 KB/sec
-- all
depending on which item on which day. Needless to say, we broke off
the 6 KB/sec attempt after a few minutes of waiting for it to pick up
again;
next day that worked out better, at about 60 KB/sec (not great, but
tolerable).
Must be server load problems at digitalriver.
