Hi,
I have a product database that I use for the web. I am now creating a print
catalogue from this database. I would like to be able to copy the
descriptions straight from the description field into my catalogue. I have
found software that can automate this process for me but the descriptions on
the web are not limited by space as are those in the catalogue.
So what I've done so far is to create two fields.
One is the web description and the other the catalogue description.
I have created two text boxes in my form corresponding to them both but the
catalogue description text box is a set size and formatted to the font I use
in the catalogue. There fore I can see what fits.
Now Id like to type into the web description and whilst doing so the
catalogue description starts to display the same thing but only up to what
the text box allows.
A) is this possible? If so how to do it?
B) if its not any other ideas?
I don¹t mind setting a limit to the number of characters in the catalogue
field but that doesn¹t account for wrapping which can reduce the actual
amount shown on the page or indeed the form text box.
Currently I have the text boxes set to the same control source so after I
have type and click out of the web description it shows it in the catalogue
description text box. I can then just select what is shown and miss the rest
out. That will involve a lot of hard work since there is some 5000 products
and the software I have can just update the catalogue from the database (or
a text file exported from the database.
