Tried to rename files and they are deleted

I've seen this question asked a couple of times, but so far no answer.
Can anyone help? In FP2000, you try and rename a file (just to
change characters from upper to lower case), you get asked if you want
to update the links, you say yes, and then "Server Error: cannot
rename file xxxx.htm", and the file is deleted from the disk. Any
ideas?

Thanks

I don't know what happened, but I do know how to keep it from happening again.

I keep each update to the web site as a separate folder so if something like
this happens, all I have to do is copy the file up from the last folder. I
keep at least 6 past updates in case something comes up that I've missed.
With the size of today's drives and with CD/RW drives, there is no excuse for
losing a file. IMHO
