Trim cells to a character

I have a colums of thousands of words. How do remove all the characters from
the right including the / sign. The words are of varying length.

Try the LEFT function with the FIND function.
Use a helper column, copy, paste special, values

=LEFT(A1,FIND("/",A1)-1)

=+MID(A1,1,FIND("/",A1)-1)

This is NOT lotus. Lose the +
and LEFT would have been better here.
