I've been moving Outlook around between machines after crashes and am
now trying to clean it up -- mostly because I want to sync with a new
palm device and that's not working. Palm says it's an Outlook
problem. First step was to get my data into the folder that Palm is
looking at. I did that just by listing all contacts (and then tasks)
and then copying them into that profile where Palm is looking and then
deleting them from my Personal folders

Right now I have three sets of folders being displayed, 1) my Personal
folders and a 2) profile that I moved over (I moved the pst) from
another machine. This was my master mail file and now has all my
calendar and contact information in it but I can't set it to receive
mail.

When I started outlook on this machine this week, I created a new mail
profile (set of folders # 3) )and now that is where the my mail comes
in from my IMAP server

but the outlook data files box shows only two entries -- one for old
imap profile ( 2) ) and one for the new imap profile ( 3) ) but no
Personal folders file.

I can't move the imap mail inbox folder into 2) and I can't move the
calendar and tasks into three. I can't copy the individual calendar
and tasks to 3) because I can't create receptacles for calendar/tasks
data. My palm (which is zeroed in on 2) ) wouldn't find them.

However, I find four active files in the ...Microsoft\Outlook\
directory, one each for 2) and 3) and a third for the Personal Folders
and a mystery "outlook.pst". "outlook1.pst" is my 1.3 local folder
PST.

First, how do I get my active inbox ( 3) ) to be a part of ( 2) ) so
that everthing except my mail archive is in one set of folders.

Second, Palm latched onto folder set 2) which is fine because that's
where the stuff is now that I want to sync (I moved all the calendar
and tasks that were in the personal folders to 2) ). Whenever Palm
tries to sync, the log shows an error processing each group of data
(calendar entries, tasks etc.) and errors out. Palm says my data is
corrupt. I tried to use the "Detect and Repair" in the Help menu but
Outook tries to install some feature and when it does that
successfully, Detect and Repair command doesn't actually happen. So I
click on it again and Windows does the same thing -- tries to install
something, then quits entirely. So, I tried the Scanpst. It found
errors and fixed them but the Palm still couldn't sync.

# 3) has only one subfolder in it, "Inbox". The other two have full
complements of subfolders (calendar, tasks, etc.). I don't seem to be
able to add calendar to 3) nor add mail to 2).
