Trouble accepting an invitation to Groove

I received an invitation but when I try to accept it I get a message that
says I must have an account. However, when Groove tries to establish that
account for me it fails with the message "Groove could not contact your
server." I've contacted the person that invited me but he's stumped. What am
I missing? Thanks so much.

Don

does any of this help -

the error message generated by the client when it cannot contact the Groove
Manager (GMS) during Account configuration. Usually for one of the following
reasons:

1. The Client machine has no network connectivity or is not connected to
the LAN.
2. AV or Firewall is blocking Groove.
3. Access to the GMS is not available over Port 80.
4. The GMS Windows Authentication has been wrongly configured. See here ->
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262248.aspx
5. The GMS is using an FQDN that does not resolve inside the firewall.

Adding on to Don's information....

A lot depends on whether your organization has a managed Groove domain and
if so, how that domain is configured to provision new users.

What do you do (if anything) to create an account? If you enter a
configuration code, stop here and provide details!

If not, are you and the person who invited you part of the same organization?

The Groove Manager (management server) for a domain can be configured to
provision domain users automatically from the data in Active Directory. There
are other ways to configure an account, so this may not be relevant to you,
but if that is your situation, automatic provisioning relies on the Groove
client being in the same Windows domain as the server during the account
configuration. If you are working from a laptop that is sometimes on the
domain and sometimes not, that might be an issue. This type of provisioning
can also fail with this error if the Groove Manager cannot contact the Active
Directory server and obtain the information it needs to create an account.
