Trouble after deleting a Microsoft Exchange e-mail account

Mari

I left my company a week ago. Before I left, I made sure
to synchronize all my Outlook data. Today I set up my
local internet provider within outlook and deleted the
Microsoft Exchange e-mail setup. I LOST ALL MY
SYNCHRONIZED DATA! I really need it back. Can someone
please help me!!!!!! It doesn't seem to be in a .pst, I
think it's in some default outlook file.

Thanks.

If you deleted your Exchange profile, your data is gone.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, Mari asked:

You should have exported to a PST file first.
Do you still have your offline file (.ost)? If so, you may be able to get it
back - search for *.ost on your computer (including hidden/system folders).
Then you can either google for OST2PST (old but may work) or see
www.exchangerecovery.com.

Or see whether your company has kept your mailbox intact and whether they
can export it out to a PST file for you.

Typically, when you are connected to an Exchange server, messages stay on
the server. Synchronization occurs by duplicating the server state in a
file called an "offline folders file" (.OST). Outlook in offline mode will
reference the OST instead of the server.

By deleting the Exchange account informaiton, you have removed all of
Outlook's ability to reference the OST or the server. You have rendered
your mail inoperative. As Lanwench says, if your OST is still on your
machine, you may be able to convert it to a PST, but there's another factor
to consider that I'd like to mention.

It has been established in many courts of law that, when you work for a
company that supplies you with an email address, any mail you send or
receive using the company's mail system belongs to the compnay, not to you.
Thus, if you do manage to recover the messages you took when you left work,
you should think about whether ot not that compnay may be inclined to charge
you with theft of company assets. I'm not saying it _will_ happen, but it
_can_.
