Trouble converting from 11x17 page size to 8 1/2 x 11

Hello--

I have a Word 2000 document that was created in 11x17 format but wit
two columns throughout, so that it looks like two 8 1/2 x 11 pages o
one page. I've been asked to convert it to 8 1/2 by 11, which should b
fine -- it should all fit fine within that size, except that when
change it all to one column and try to change the page size, I ge
this:

"Settings you chose for the left and right margins, column spacing, o
paragraph indents are too large for the page width in some sections."

I have tried to go in and manually change any margins or indents tha
would conflict with this, but there must be something in there that
can't find. I get that same message whenever I try to change the pag
size.

Is there something that I am missing? Can anyone point me in the righ
direction?

Well, after wrestling with this thing for hours, I started all over fro
the beginning, and changed the page size BEFORE I took out the columns
and everything seems to be working now!

FWIW, the source of the message could be that "Equal column width" was not
checked in the Columns dialog.
