Uninstall Norton and reinstall using a custom installation and disable the
Outlook integration.
It is useless, a resource problem, and causes all kinds of problems with
sending/receiving as well as multiple copies being sent or received. You
are already protected by your real time scanner when incoming mail is
opened. If you think that scanning outgoing mail for viruses is a good
idea, just remember you must already be infected to send, so scanning there
is also useless. Norton/McAfee/Etc. are playing on the public's fear and
providing no real service, except to keep Norton and Microsoft techs fully
employed.

After furious head scratching, Caroline asked:
| Thank you. That leaves me at a dead end. I cannot send and recieve
| e-mail unless I disable Norton completely (not just antivirus part).
| Another security system to cover temp will interfere with Norton and
| Norton has no solutions to offer. Any ideas. Live update are
| complete as well as all MS updates.
