Trouble opening Word documents while reviewing toolbar shown

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel When I use the reviewing toolbar in a document, Word is slower than usual. When I open two or more documents with the reviewing toolbar open is hard to switch from one documento to the other (I have to press the keys twice and sometimes I also have to clic on the document I want to see before it's actually "active").

But the greatest trouble is when I have one document open with the reviewing bar and I want to open another one that I previously saved without the aformentioned toolbar open. This document is quite difficult to reach. Event though I open it it doesnn't show upo. When I switch with the alt-tab keys it doesn't show o shows but fades inmmediately. In order to see it I have to try several times, use the menu bar and quickly clic on the text or some other trick. Is this normal in Office for Mac? (I am a recent switcher to Mac). Does anybody know what can I do to fix this? I'll appreciate your help.

It's more likely to be the Tracked Changes themselves that are creating the
problem.

The Reviewing Toolbar will not appear unless the document contains tracked
changes.

If you allow tracked changes to continue collecting in a document, the
document will run slower and slower until eventually it stops.

Resolve all the tracked changes (accept all changes in the document) and
things should come back to normal.

If you need to mark changes, use Compare Documents to compare an untouched
original with your final version. That will mark all the differences as
changes for you, but put them all in as a single operation that will be much
faster.

Hope this helps

Thanks. I think using your suggestion about using the Compare Documents will make things easier.

Anyway, the problems I wrote about appear even when the document with tracked changes is new.

The way I have got rid of the delays in opening and switching documents is to dock the reviewing bar.

Thanks again.
