trouble printing 3D objects from Mac Word 2008

Nora McNamara

I have a MacBook, OS X 10.6.2. I have to make graphic illustrations using the objects palette in Word (2008) and then make some of them 3D using the drawing toolbar, 3D options.

They look perfect on the computer screen. But, in print preview "ghost" 2D images show up to the right of the 3D objects (and they show up on paper when printed. I have dumped and reloaded printer software already; it happens on every printer I have tried.

When I transfer the file to a Windows computer, print preview and the hard copy do NOT have these ghostly 2D images to the right of the figure.

So, I could continue to just transfer everything to the old Windows computer. But I'd rather be able to do everything on the Mac!

Any ideas greatly appreciated!

Hi Nora;

In some brief testing here I have been able to repro what you describe but
have found no way to avoid it, nor can I find a workaround. This is also
something that hasn't been brought up before.

I will pass a report along to MacBU but I don't expect to hear anything back
from them any time soon. I know they're quite preoccupied with preparing the
next release of Mac Office. I'll let you know when I have any feedback by
way of a reply here.

For future reference, though, you've posted to the newsgroup for Win Word &
not too many Mac users hang out here. It would be better if you use the
Mactopia Forums ( http://www.officeformac.com/productforums/ ) or make sure
the Usenet group address is microsoft.public.mac.office.[program name] if
accessing through some other web interface.
