Trouble uploading website

I have read the db guide. However, I have trouble adding
FTP locations. I have done as the instructions say, I
have added the name of the FTP site (which later appear on
the FTP sites window), clicked on OK. When I attempt to
click on the ftp address I have just added, I get the
following error message: "Cannot connect to the FTP server
on the computer named 'ftp.my-address.com' and 'The
folder 'ftp.my-address.com/' isnt' accessible. The folder
may be located in an unabailable location protected with a
password, or the filename contains a / or \'. Please
help!!!

When you created the ftp account did you enter the username and password for
it?

By guide do you mean the upload tutorial presentation?

You did upload the files you want to make accessible to the visitors?

My site looks like this

www.pacifier.com/~dschmit/

A bunch of gif files
a bunch of html files

a directory named download - the path is

www.pacifier.com/~dschmidt/download

Of course in your ftp program you'll need a password to access your site on
the provider's server.
