Trouble with bullets and numbering

D'Arcy Kroeker

Hi everybody.
Today in my astonomy lecture I was taking notes on my
laptop and I was using lots of bullets as usual. I got
about a page of notes done with no problem, then a bullet
I made came out super small. I deleted it and made a new
one, but it came up small again. I tried going into
Format/Bullets and Numbering and making the bullet from
there, but no matter what I do the bullet stays small. I
even tried to make the font bigger, but it doesn't effect
the bullet. So then I figured I would just make all of my
bullets small, but the big ones stay big and the small
ones stay small. Please help, I can't think of anything
else to try.
thanks!

Hi D'Arcy,

The best way to apply bullets (IMO) is using a bulleted style.
And the easiest way is to use the built-in "List Bullet" style, with the
shortcut Ctrl+Shift+L.

In case you already use a bulleted style, try to reapply the style, or use
Ctrl+Q to reset the paragraph formatting.
Or, if you have a large document to clean up, replace the "List Bullet"
style with itself (leaving "Find what:" and "Replace with:" empty).

With the bullets button on the formatting toolbar, you have next to no
control over what kind of bullet will be used, so it's probably best
avoided.
Sometimes the button will even apply the "List Bullet" style, but you can't
depend on it.

Greetings,
Klaus
