trouble with emails

how do you open an email if it says it does not know where the document came
from and the extention file is pps i dont know what any of htis means how do
i get to download my emails

I have downloaded the viewer and I can run saved attachments by clicking on
them from windows explorer. They will not run directly within outlook
express 6 even though the file association shows correctly.

Can this be fixed?
