Trouble with numbered lists - won't continue

Hi -

Can someone explain how to resume a numbered list? Here is a description of
the problem:
* I used linked text boxes in my 40+ publication
* I use styles and have 3 numbering styles
* In my publication, I deliver numbered directions
* Sometimes I need to insert a non-numbered line, that perhaps gives more
information or a comment
* When I insert the non-numbered line (usually by pressing enter and
changing the style of the line), I cannot get the numbering to resume

What, oh what can I do?

Thanks - Janie

What version Publisher? If you have 2003, look at section in the insert menu.

I don't think this is the cure, Mary

This would seem to require me to divide my text so that the first numbered
directions (lets say directions 1 - 3) are defined by a section. Then the
comment I include in the next line is a section, followed by the rest of the
numbered items (let's say 4 - 6). When I tried it, it didn't seem to work.

I'm guessing that Publisher doesn't do "continue numbering," so that you
always to start numbering fresh and instruct the software to "start at" the
next number??
