Trying to automatically generate a number for a form in MS Access

Have an assignment where I need to automatically generate a number every time
the form is used.

Have been trying with unbound labels but no luck.

Any ideas?

Could you explain what you mean by "used" in this context? Every time
you open the form? Every keystroke or mouseclick? Every time you
change or enter a record? And where do you want this number stored?
