Trying to enlarge tab size on worksheet for easier reading

I'm trying to enlarge the tab size on my worksheets so that they are easier
to read. I have highlighted them and changed the font size but nothing
changes. I am using office 2000. I'm wondering if upgrading microsoft office
would help. Thanks!

Unfortunately there is no way to increase the tab size.
In Office 2002 & 2003 you have the option to colour the tabs but that is it.

You could try right-clicking the navigate buttons (the VCR like) button on
the left of the tabs, this will present you with a list of all the worksheets
in the workbook.

Windows XP has a magnify facility
Start > Programs > Accessories > Accesibility > Magnifier.

This basically create a window at the top of you screen that magnifies the
area under your pointer.
If you don't have Windows XP I believe there are other utilities on the
Microsoft website.

You can change the font size in the sheet tabs, by changing the scroll
bar size in the Windows display properties.

For Windows XP: On the Windows taskbar, choose Start>Control Panel,
Display, Appearance tab, Advanced button
Select Scrollbar from the dropdown list, and increase the font size

No reason to upgrade. Newer versions are no different.

This is a function of your Windows Display Properties.

The size of the sheet tabs are governed by the setting for Scrollbars in
Windows Display Appearance. Mine are at 18. Start there and work your way
up or down. The font will increase or decrease with the size of sheet tabs.

Win98 as example...

Start > Settings > Control Panel > Display > Appearance(WinXP
Appearance>Advanced)

"Item" drop down select Scrollbar

Change setting to Taste
Apply
OK

Depending upon your settings, you may have to re-boot to see the changes.

Also note: this is a Global change and will affect all Applications.

Right-click on your desktop and select properties. Go to the appearance tab
and select advanced. Select 'Scrollbars' from the drop-down and set it to
something like 25 (default 17). This will change the size of the tabs in
Excel and also the size of the scrollbars.

(Re-start of Excel required)
