Trying to Install Update of Microsoft Office 2008

R

Rivergull

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Every time Office:Mac alerts me to an Update of Microsoft Office, I initiate the update but it goes into 'hang' mode half-way through....and a box appears saying: "Please quit the following applications before continuing with this update....Microsoft Word". But there are NO Microsoft Word docs open on my screen.

How can I get past this and install the new update??

While no documents are open, your Mac still detects that Word is running
and the Mac is probably right. Press "cmd-tab" keys to toggle through
the running apps and see if Word is running and then quit it. Or do a
force quit from the Apple icon (top left corner). Or quite Word from
the dock.
