turning off customized menus

when I point at FILE in word, excel, etc., I only get some options instead of
all of them. I want to see all options without pointing at the arrows at the
bottom. How do I turn this "smart" feature off?

Right click in the toolbar area. Select Customize from the popup menu
that appears. Select the Options Tab.

Put a check mark in "Always show full menus". Click Close, and now no
delay.

At some point you may want the short menus back, but a quick easy
trick to quickly display the full menus is to double click on the menu
item, such as Format.
