this shouldn't happen,
can you give a specific example:
"If I enter this...I get this. I really want this...

Upon further review there appears to be a limit to this problem but if
type 3e115 it will return 3.00E+115 when i exit the cell. This doe
not happen if i enter in a number greater than about 310 after the E.
Unfortunately I don't have that luxury as the information i am using i
being used to reference another site that automatically return
information I need based on this data. As for what i really want,
want the data to be entered into the cell exactly as typed

I'm sure there are other/better ways...but try formatting cells to text
then input the data.
Format>Cells>Text
Then enter 3e115
Let me know if this helps. or....
Let me know if I'm an idiot and I'll shoot myself.

Time to get out the gun. Just kidding, that's a great solution if yo
are copying and pasting data from another file (such as a notepa
file), but for my purposes (exporting data automatically from anothe
program) it won't work because I am not allowed to preformat the sheet
It's a tricky situation, let me know if you have any ideas.

Thanks for your help so far

When you open up the exported spreadsheet, have you tried using th
import wizard in step 3?
By the way...I'm on strike one. And uh...if this does not work...I'
moving to the Excel for beginners forum.
