Two ?s about Outlook 2010

How do I set it so the Outlook Data File up top is always minimized
and not showing all of the folders beneath it upon opening Outlook.
Every time I open it, it shows all the folders beneath it: Inbox,
Draft, Sent, etc., and I don't want them showing. I only want the
email account I'm checking to be expanded whenever I open Outlook.

Also, I just set up an email account, and I keep getting this error
message when it checks the mail account:

Receiving reported error (0X800CCC90). Your incoming Pop3 server has
reported an internal error... The server responded: X-timeout1:0

Incoming POP3 server is 110. Outgoing SMTP server is 25.

Any ideas about how I can fix these two issues? Many TIA. :)
