Two versions of Word on one PC

Is it possible to have two versions of Word on one PC, the English version
and the French version ? I am using Windows XP and Office XP, Thanks, Dan

Yes it is possible, but install them in different directories in Program
Files folder C: drive. You would creat two folders, one called Word 9
English and the other Word 9 French. Its not recommended you do this though,
you will certainly encounter conflicts when opening documents. I recommened
you use proofing tools if you want to use both French and English.

Dictionaries!

It is rarely a good plan to have two versions of Word installed under the
same operating system. I suspect that the only difference between the two
will be the dictionary files - ie the proofing tools, but I am unsure of the
linking mechanism if you merely add the dictionary files of one version to
the other ie if you simply add the dictionaries, will they be accessible?
Microsoft does supply additional proofing tools for a wide range of
languages which do provide the integration.

I am not sure about Andre's advice, but proofing tools are the spelling and
grammar checker.

I have a young French student staying with me, she has the French version of
Word with her and she wanted me to install it on my PC. From your answers
this may cause me problems, I have an old notebook and I will let her put
her program on that, she can always copy her work on to a diskette if she
needs anything printed. Thanks for the help, Dan.
