Tying a Frontpage spreadsheet web component to a server side data source

Can this be done?

I can create a Spreadsheet web component in Frontpage - and I can set the data source to External, for example an Access database.

But, it is a local database.

How can I make the FP website access the serverside Access database to build a client-side Excel spreadsheet?

Or do I need to write some ASP to build it?
NB it wont be a realtime dynamic database - will only change periodically.
