Is there a way that I can Type Thai Characters in Word 2008. I have gone into the preference and change all of the setting to Thai and I am able to type Thai in the Spotlight and in the Web, but cannot type in Word at all. It shows all the squares. Please help.

You need to have a Tahi font and select the Thai input methods. After
that, you should be able to type in Thai in most applications (Word, but
also TextEdit...)

I have a Thai document send to me in Word. However, when I open it up in
Word it is all boxes.
Is there a set up in Office 2007 or something that needs to be installed in
order to open/read this document?

Do you have any Thai font on your Mac??

2007???? Are you running Windows?? You're in the wrong newsgroup then.
This is the group for the Mac version of Word.
My comment remains the same though. In theory, all you'd need would be
the proper fonts to display this document as it should,

Well then my answer still stands (but you are still in the group for the
Mac version of Word ;-) ),

All, I am using a MacBook OS X, Word 2008 - when I open documents with Thai fonts, the Thai does not display, only boxes. Two Thai fonts are installed on my Mac but they do not show in the font drop-down lists. Korean, Chinese and Japanese fonts do show in the drop-downs.

When I start a document from scratch, I can type in Thai fonts, by selecting Thai for the input source.

Any ideas? ครับ

Does anyone have a solution to this problem? I am having the same problem with Thai in Office 2008 for Mac. I can start a new document in Thai without a problem, but my old documents do not display properly, and if I start a document in English, switching to Thai also does not work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, caroline
