Typed Quotation Marks Show as Special Characters

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: intel

In a Word.doc When I type a quotation mark I get odd characters instead.

When I cut and paste from Word into Dreamweaver: Odd characters appear where there should be none. I am then unable to edit that text accurately in Dreamweaver

This only started happening recently when I began accepting .docs from a client who is most likely using an older version of Word and on and a PC.

Thanks for any help!

Sounds like he's sending you a very old Word format that does not contain
Unicode characters.

Try doing a Save As and looking to see which format it offers: that will
tell you what the file is.

Then force it to save as .docx. That "Should" re-write it into Unicode for
you, and the characters should at least display correctly, although you may
have to correct the fonts.

Me? I would save the document into "Text Only" and reformat it completely
when you get it into DreamWeaver.

Hope this helps
