typing over?

When I try to insert a word or two I'm erasing the next words. What's the
setting to stop this from happening?

Click on OVR at bottom. Works for me.

Try hitting the inser key on your keyboard !

I have a wireless keyboard, so I don't have an Insert key. Not everyone
views their status bar, so the OP might not be able to double-click the OVR.
So I've tried to cover all options here:

Try TOOLS > OPTIONS > EDIT Tab and remove tick from the OVERTYPE MODE box.
